Raw is Not Soft - Poetry Without Filters

April 8th, 2026

Raw Is Not Soft: The Masks We Sew in Silence exists in the spaces people don’t always talk about.

It’s poetry rooted in emotion, psychology, and the parts of life that are often hidden behind what we choose to show the world. Not everything is easy to say out loud. Not everything is meant to be polished or softened. Some things are meant to be felt exactly as they are.

This collection explores both sides of that experience—the light and the dark. The quiet struggles, the heavier moments, the thoughts people carry but don’t always share. It doesn’t assume perfection, and it doesn’t pretend that anyone has it all figured out.

Because the truth is, everyone is dealing with something. Whether it’s visible or not, whether it’s spoken or kept internal, those experiences shape how we move through the world.

This work is meant to reflect that. To create a space where emotion is allowed to exist without being filtered or dismissed. Where readers can recognize pieces of themselves, even in the things that are harder to face.

Not everything needs to be explained.
Not everything needs to be fixed.
Sometimes it just needs to be acknowledged.

All my sharp edges,
L.K. Tanner
